The European Auchenorrhyncha Ecology Group is an informal network of ecologists using Auchenorrhyncha (leafhoppers, planthoppers, spittlebugs, treehoppers and cicadas) as model organisms studying populations and communities.

Initiated by Alan Stewart (University of Sussex, UK), the network was set up at the 10th Auchenorrhyncha Congress in 1999 with a session gathering the expressions of interests of potential participants. This inaugural discussion was followed by meetings in Poland in July 2000, in Austria in July 2001, and in Germany in July 2003.
